I Hope You Dance 2

Dance Class Descriptions

4:00 p.m.    Pre-ballet: Dance Me A Story (3-4 year olds)
This beginning ballet class encourages the joy of dance and movement that will foster a lifelong love of dance.  The young ballerinas will take their first steps into the world of ballet by using wonderful children’s literature, music and props and seeing first-hand how they all go together. Welcome to the world of ballet!

4:30 p.m.     Ballet 1: Dance Me A Story (5-9 year olds)
The older dance class offers the same magical curriculum using music, props and great children’s literature, but with more advanced classical ballet techniques.  This class will help them build self-confidence and creativity.

5:00 p.m.     Ballet 2  (5-9 year olds)
This class builds on the classical ballet techniques learned in Ballet 1, and will help build strength, develop poise, and self-confidence in the dancer.

5:30 p.m.     Jazz 1  (5-9 year olds)
This class teaches the technique of jazz and hip hop movement for beginners. It includes a warm-up with stretching, strengthening exercises, and across the floor exercises. It is perfect for young dancers focusing on coordination and ends with a fast-paced combination of movements to a choreographed dance. Dancers in this class will learn jazz and a bit of hip hop to some of today’s fun hit songs and some favorite oldies. Since ballet is the foundation for all dance, Ballet 2 is strongly recommended to take with this class, but is not required.

**NEW CLASS!** 6:00 Ballet 3 (9 and up)

This class will cover fundamentals of classical ballet technique. The importance of strength, flexibility, rhythm, musicality, and memorization will be stressed. The class will learn choreographed ballet dances at the end of each class.

**NEW CLASS!** 6:30 Jazz 2 (9 and up)

This class also teaches the technique of jazz and hip hop movement learned in Jazz 1, but at a more advanced level. It includes a warm-up with stretching, strengthening exercises, and across the floor exercises. It is perfect for the intermediate dancer and focuses on coordination and ends with a fast-paced combination of movements to a choreographed dance. Dancers in this class will learn jazz and a bit of hip hop to some of today’s fun hit songs and some favorite oldies. Since ballet is the foundation for all dance, Ballet 3 is strongly recommended to take with this class, but is not required.
