Even though they look very cute, we have decided to no longer allow tutus or skirts at rehearsals because they are distracting to the teacher, who cannot see proper leg movements. However, if you already have a leotard with an attached tutu skirt on it, that’s okay.
Also, all dancers need to wear leather ballet shoes to prevent slipping and falling. If you do not have leather ballet shoes yet, you may purchase them at Rosy Cheeks in Madison (in the Westgate Mall off Whitney Way from the Beltline). Check out their website at http://www.rosycheeksoriginals.com/ or you can purchase them online at dance supply stores. However, it really is best to have your daughter with you when shopping so that you can fit the shoes properly. Please do not put your girls in bedroom ballet type of slippers. These slippers have caused some dancers to slip and fall. Also, please use masking tape and tape the ties on your ballet shoes underneath so that she will not have to tie her shoes during class. We can show you how to do this in class.
The best dancewear is a pair of light pink tights, a leotard, and pink leather ballet shoes. If your daughter has long hair, please be sure to tie it back before class.
For jazz and tap class, please wear a leotard or close-fitting top, jazz pants or tights (tights are preferred for tap), jazz shoes and tap shoes. Hair must be secured away from the face.
Please do not wear jewelry/watches in any class for safety reasons.
Thank you!
