Near the end of the class, Miss Leah has the dancers gather around in a circle to show off their dance movements. This exercise helps reinforce what the girls are learning and gives them the experience and confidence to perform in front of others. This skill is SO important - not only for dance, but for their lives! : )
One of the parents asked me after class “How do you teach the little ones?” And to them, I answer yes, it’s difficult to keep the little ones focused, but we keep in mind that with the 3- and 4-year old dancers, it’s not so much about doing the movements perfectly. It’s more about getting the dancers to just move creatively, and to discover the art of dance and to fall in love with it! Everything at their age is new, new, new, so we don’t expect perfection at this age, but after a while, they “get it” and they get it well! It’s always so exciting for Miss Leah to see when the little (and bigger) dancers “get it.” Sometimes it takes a few rehearsals, and sometimes it might take a whole session, but it’s always so exciting for her (and for them!) when they finally do “get” it!
So, let your dancer have “Showtime!” at home and ask her to perform all the movements she knows. We’re sure she will give you a great show!
I hope you dance too,
Kris : )
